Jones in at Cardiff

Jones is back in football after a difficult time at Wolves saw them lose their Premiership status after just one season and struggle to make any sort of impact on their return to the Football League. He lost his job at the beginning of November last year after almost four years at Molineux.

His managerial career started with Stockport where he followed Danny Bergara in 1995 and less than a year later he came close to making the move to Turf Moor when he was targeted by the Clarets to replace Jimmy Mullen. He remained at Edgeley Park, we got Adrian Heath, and just over a year later he took them up to the then First Division before jumping ship and moving to Southampton.

Southampton replaced him during a difficult time for him personally and he was out of the game for a year before moving to Wolves and he became the manager that finally took the free spending midlands club to the top league, albeit for just that one year.

After just six months he’s now back, as Lawrence’s replacement at Cardiff, and has signed a three year deal with the cash strapped Welsh club.
