Only an injury sustained at Coventry has held up the deal but fit again he has played in our last two reserve games including last night's sensational 7-1 win at Morecambe, but today he's on his way back to the Alexandra Stadium and will be with them until the end of the season before returning to Turf Moor.

Manager Owen Coyle admitted this morning that both Crewe were not the only club keen to sign him. "Crewe and Huddersfield have been chasing him for the last couple of months, but he has been injured during that time," Coyle said.

"He has now got a couple of reserve games under his belt, but he needs regular games. The question was does he stay here and continue to play in the reserves or does he play at a good level at Crewe?

"We have decided he can go to Crewe on loan until the end of the season and then he will come back to us in pre-season, obviously still under contract to ourselves and ready to give his all again."

Jones made a good start to his Burnley career with two goals on his debut on the opening day of last season against QPR. His good form continued until injury ruled him out just over a year ago and he's struggled to recapture that form. This season he has made only one start, that in January against Plymouth.
