Jones back to Crewe?

Steve Jones
Jones started his first game this season for the Clarets last Saturday because of the absences of Kyle Lafferty and Ade Akinbiyi coupled with Robbie Blake not being considered fit enough to start the game.

It has been a difficult season for him having won his place back in the side at the end of last season during which time he scored goals against Plymouth and Cardiff in successive home games.

This season however Steve Cotterill started with Jon Harley on the left hand side of midfield and then Alan Mahon before settling with Kyle Lafferty in that position, and Lafferty had played every game there since then until the start of his suspension last Saturday.

He's not expected to start this coming week at Coventry. However, his former club might have come to the rescue. Crewe have revealed that they are close to completing a deal with a Championship club for a player and the local radio in their area are all but confirming that player is Jones.

If that's the case, then Jones could be on his way to Crewe for the rest of the season on loan and could make his debut for them at Carlisle this coming Saturday. He is currently under contract at Burnley until the end of the 2008/09 season.
