The results were announced earlier this week and although Joey didn't win the award he did finish as runner-up, ahead of Michael Kightly of Wolves who finished in third place and Derby defender Martin Albrechtsen who finished fourth.

Winner was, hardly surprisingly, Reading's Kevin Doyle who scored five goals during the month including his second hat trick of the season.

I still remain surprised at Joey's nomination given that he started only two of the three league games during the month, but Chris Kamara who leads the selection panel said he'd been the driving force for our successful month which saw us win four and draw one in the league as well as beat Fulham in the Carling Cup.

ot bad though, second in the player of the month and winner of the manager of the month, and a set of results that took us into fourth place in the league as we went into October.
