Jimmy Mullen loses job

Incredibly Rotherham were in an automatic promotion place just three weeks ago following a 4-2 win at Burton Albion, but since then they've picked up just three points out of a possible 15.

The goals have dried up with only two scored in those five games and on Friday, following the defeat at Chesterfield, Moore, in an astonishing attack on his players, labelled them gutless and said if he had a gun he'd shoot them.

He confirmed things would be changed for the next game but it is the board who have made the changes, relieving both Moore and Mullen of their duties. In a brief statement the club thanked both for their whole hearted contribution to Rotherham United over a number of years in both playing and coaching capacities and said both would always be warmly received by Rotherham United.

Moore and Mullen had been in charge since September 2009, replacing Mark Robins who moved to Barnsley. They reached the end of season play offs last season and looked to be at least on schedule to repeat that this season.

Rotherham have become the 35th club to make a change of manager since the start of this season and Andy Liddell has been given the task of managing the club for the remainder of the season. They are still in those play off positions but now sit four points behind the automatic places.
