In the question and answer session after the Annual General Meeting a shareholder asked if there had been any progress on this after it had been suggested two years ago at the AGM.

Chairman Barry Kilby was able to confirm that the club had now granted it. He said: "We said that after our 125th anniversary celebrations we would look at this.

"The club is now willing to grant Jimmy a testimonial and give all the help and facilities that we can. It does need a testimonial committee forming, but we will do all we can to facilitate a testimonial game here at Turf Moor."

Almost immediately potential committee members were in discussions and I don't think there will be a shortage of volunteers to organise this, surely with the involvement of the Ex-Clarets in Sport.

A Burnley v Northern Ireland game wouldn't be a bad idea would it?
