Jimmy Mac is our very special guest

Last updated : 26 December 2005 By Tony Scholes

It is hardly an appropriate billing for Jimmy to announce him as a former Burnley and Stoke player – that is a title that should be reserved for one of the many others who have played for both clubs.

Jimmy of course is regarded as Burnley finest ever player, the stand at the Bee Hole End of the ground carries his name and he’s always guaranteed a magnificent reception from the home supporters.

But his success was not restricted to Turf Moor, he was a top player for his country and when he finally left Burnley in 1963 he moved to Stoke and helped engineer their promotion to the First Division and then establishing themselves in the top flight.

So much has been said of the great man, from those of us old enough to have been privileged to see him play, and from others who have been told all about him by their dads and granddads.
