One of those, finally and not before time, is former Claret and current club president Jimmy McIlroy. It seems so wrong to me that he hasn't been inducted previously but finally that wrong is being put right.

Alongside Jimmy Mac will be Patrick Vieira, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Trevor Francis, Ray Wilkins, Matt Dimbylow (captain of the England Cerebral Palsy team), women's football pioneer Sylvia Gore MBE and the goalscoring sensation  of the 1920s and 193s Hughie Gallagher.

They have been chosen by a panel including Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson, Gordon Taylor, Mark Lawrenson and each current living member already inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Jimmy said: "I am thrilled to be chosen by the illustrious selection panel. It is truly an honour to be joining the Hall of Fame."

His induction will take place at the Hall of Fame dinner 2014 which will be held on 16th October, just nine days before his 83rd birthday.
