Jensen signs in

Jensen was released by Gary Megson at the end of last season. After a number of injuries he had become third choice behind Russell Hoult and Joe Murphy with his prospects of first team football at the Hawthorns not too high.

The Clarets have been linked with a whole host of keepers in the last few weeks since both Marlon Beresford and Nik Michopoulos were both released with names such as Coyne, Bywater and Nash regularly being suggested.

Coyne and Nash were never targets although it is thought that talks were held with Bywater who was keen to move to Burnley but that never materialised and we turned to Jensen.

He was Brian Little’s last signing for West Brom costing £100,000 from AZ Alkmaar and for some months was first choice under Gary Megson before the signing of Russell Hoult. Since then he has played just two games when Hoult has been unavailable.

West Brom fans, who called him the Beast because of his size, have told us that he is a great shot stopper but not the best coming off his line for crosses and causes panic with his defenders. They have told us to watch out for his kick outs which are massive and they say that, unlike Crichton, he keeps them on the pitch.

"He will struggle to get to balls low by the post because he is slow at getting down, but other than that he should do a decent job for you. We liked him but he has had his nose pushed out," said another Baggies fan.

But Jensen is now a Claret and joins Mo Camara and Lee Roche in the squad for next season and assistant manager Sam Ellis said, "The Gaffer is delighted to have signed him. He has been a target for some time and we've been patient with it and now we're happy to have him."
