Jensen in frame for keeper role

The club have now revealed that we will be playing our away matches in a goalkeeper’s kit and so maybe we will need to sign all of them. Some of them have been nothing but pure speculation whilst others have definitely been attracting the interest.

Now though it does look as though our attention has been focused on the West Midlands and to be more accurate keeper Brian Jensen who has just been released by West Brom.

He was signed by the Baggies just a week before Gary Megson took over as manager and was very much involved in them avoiding the drop at the end of the 1999/2000 season and also in their improved form at the beginning of the following season.

The now 28 year-old Dane cost £100,000 from Dutch club AZ 67 Alkmaar and came in for Alan Miller who had been sold to Blackburn. He held down his place though for less than a year when Megson splashed out £450,000 for Pompey keeper Russell Hoult and since he signed in January 2001 Jensen has made only two league appearances.

Following relegation from the Premiership, and with Hoult still first choice, he was released at the end of his contract and is now on the look out for a new club.

That new club could just be Burnley.
