Jensen had agreed to the deal and has now returned to Turf Moor to complete the formalities which means, by the end of this contract, he will have been a Burnley player for seven years.

He said today: "I was delighted to sign for another two years. Being the longest serving player on Burnley's books is something I am extremely proud of and the club have always been good to me, so it was an easy decision to make.

"It is obvious there are going to be changes at the club this summer, but I am looking forward to the fresh challenges that lay ahead and I will give my all to help the club achieve its ultimate dream of Premiership football."

Jensen signed in the summer of 2003, one of three permanent signings made that summer by then manager Stan Ternent. He was an ever present during that season and has now gone on to play 180 games for the Clarets.
