Jay stars in cup win

Last updated : 16 August 2011 By Tony Scholes

He was the winner of the man of the match vote and the player ratings on Clarets Mad, and by some margin to become the first player this season to take the maximum six points from a game towards the player of the year.

There was no contest in the man of the match where he polled 67.1% of the vote leaving only Kieran Tripper, who was second, to reach double figures and then with just 10.0%.

Ross Wallace, scorer of the fourth goal in the first minute of extra time, took third place with a 9.6% share of the vote.

It was the same top three in the player ratings with Jay again the clear winner with a rating of 8.30 out of 10.

This time it was Wallace ahead of Trippier. Wallace's rating was 7.37 whilst Trippier came in third with a rating of 7.07 out of 10.

That means Trippier and Wallace both win three points towards the player of the year alongside the six won by Jay, and the three points won by right-back Trippier means he's now two points clear at the top of the table.

The vote for the Crystal Palace man of the match is currently underway but ends at the end of today.
