Jay goal wins in

Jay Rodriguez
He linked up with Robbie Blake down the left hand side and then left the full back trailing after some Ronadloesque step overs before curling a shot past the keeper from just outside the penalty box.

It was his second goal in a week, and made absolutely certain the points were coming our way. This was a fifth goal of the season for the ever popular youngster who is now known as Super Jay.

There seemed no doubt despite the competition that the goal would win the Clarets Mad Goal of the Month for March. That competition was fierce, including two of the last three goals of the month at Ipswich and Plymouth from Wade Elliott and Robbie Blake, never mind the superb winner at Blackpool from Christian Kalvenes.

But Jay won it by some distance. Alongside a collection of fine goals he polled over half the vote, 56.3% to be exact. There was never any doubt he was going to join the monthly winners.

Robbie was second. His winner at Plymouth won 10% of the vote whilst Wade was third with 9.7% of the vote.

Jay now joins the other monthly winners and all of these goals will be in the Goal of the Season poll next month. The previous winners are Chris McCann v Oldham (August), Joey Gudjonsson v Preston (September), Chris Eagles v Coventry (October), Ade Akinbiyi v Chelsea (November), Kevin McDonald v Arsenal (December), Robbie Blake v Preston (January) and Wade Elliott v West Brom (February).
