Iwelumo deal getting closer

There has been much media speculation regarding a potential move from Burnley for Fletcher with Wolves considered the most likely to land him. There have been suggestions of a £7.5 million deal whilst other reports have included moves to Turf Moor for goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and striker Chris Iwelumo.

Yesterday there were reports that Iwelumo could be set to join Burnley within hours and although that didn't happen, with Hull's Dean Marney the only signing yesterday, the reports were not wild speculation.

The Scottish international striker, who hails from Coatbridge the birth place of former Claret Bobby Seith, arrived at Turf Moor early yesterday afternoon. Whether that was to merely wrap up a deal or whether it was for further talks is unknown.

It does however seem likely that he will become a Burnley player early next week and will give Brian Laws his second summer signing to follow on from the capture of Marney.
