It's Uriah

The last team we saw the Sheffield referee was in the 2000/01 season after he had been axed from the Premiership and twice he was in charge of away games that season at Huddersfield and Grimsby. We had no complaints about his performances at all, he had excellent games on both occasions.

His first appearance at a Burnley match, back in 1994, ended in some confusion though when he yellow carded Chris Vinnicombe twice but did not send him off.

This season has seen him predominantly refereeing in the Premiership and although he has kept his red card in his pocket he has handed out 36 yellow cards in just 8 games. There is an even split of 18/18 for home and away players but one of those away bookings is significant.

On 20th September he yellow carded seven players in the 2nd Division game between Luton and QPR at Kenilworth Road and one of those booked was one Arthur Gnohere of QPR.

I’ve always found him to be a referee keen to keep the game moving and after spending some time apparently more impressed with his own image he has settled down as a good referee.

He will be assisted tomorrow at Pride Park by Dave Bryan and Shaun Procter-Green, both from Lincolnshire.
