It's our Friend again

There was one good performance from us (Watford), one bad (Crystal Palace) and the other had a mixture of both (QPR). And it is interesting to note that his highest 'Rate the Ref' rating was in the 5-0 defeat at Palace when he sent off Clarke Carlisle, whilst his lowest was in that win at Watford, Owen Coyle's first victory as Burnley boss.

Those more recent games at QPR and Palace, he's refereed well. Prior to that he had some poor games when refereeing Burnley, and none more so than that game at Watford last season. I still cannot get that penalty refusal for a foul on Robbie Blake out of my head.

After refereeing the Palace game at the end of last season he had one more game, and that was back at Vicarage Road when he took charge of the play off between Watford and Hull. He sent off Watford's John Eustace, a decision that was quickly reversed on appeal.

In total he sent off eleven players last season whilst his yellow card count reached exactly one hundred with 39 of them going to home team players and 61 to away team players. That was in 41 games.

This season he's already refereed nine games. In those games there have been 30 yellow cards of which 11 have gone to home players and 19 to away players including two former Clarets Nathan Dyer and Mo Camara in that list of away players.

He's used his red card just the once, and that was in front of the Sky cameras when he red carded Southampton's young debutant Oliver Lancashire in their defeat at QPR.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by Paul Barnes (Cambridgeshire) and David Bushell (London) with Andy Davies (Hampshire) as fourth official.
