It's looking like Cotterill

Last updated : 30 May 2004 By Tony Scholes

He left Leicester recently after working alongside Micky Adams on a short term contract and said he wanted to get back into management. Without ever appearing to be at the forefront for the Turf Moor job his name has never gone away.

As some names have faded into the distance, such as Eric Black and the two we always thought were not really in the reckoning Brian Flynn and Steve McMahon, that of Cotterill has refused to disappear.

The bulk of his managerial experience is at a lower level and he spent just a few weeks with promoted Stoke at the beginning of the 2002/03 season. His Sunderland partnership with Howard Wilkinson followed and he was out of the game until moving in at Leicester.

Whether Cotterill is going to get the job or not we don’t know – only the select few within Turf Moor know that. But there are strong suggestions that he is still in the running.

It is now almost four weeks since the news broke that Stan Ternent would not be offered a new deal and it has certainly been a very interesting four weeks. But we are more than ready now to know who will be taking over.

Come on Barry put us out of our misery and announce our new manager.
