It's Foy again

Last updated : 28 October 2003 By Tony Scholes

He got his season off in style too by sending off two Palace players during the game. Wayne Routledge was the first to go and Shaun Derry followed in the second half. In his next game a week later the red card was out again when he sent off Coventry’s Youssef Safri, issuing a second yellow when he thought the Coventry player had dived for a penalty.

He got this one horribly wrong but even with video evidence showing the decision to be incorrect he bluntly refused to alter his decision.

Last Saturday he was at Bolton and nearly had Sam Allardyce pulling his hair out at a string of amazing decisions and again, it really is a big weakness with Foy, he brought out the card again for diving and once again getting it horribly wrong.

Overall though he doesn’t use his cards too often and there hasn’t been a red card from him since those three in the first week of the season. In the nine matches he has referee this season there have been 31 yellow cards. And they could not have been more evenly distributed with 16 to home team players and 15 to away team players.

We should be OK with him tonight but really do need to be careful how we go down in the opposition box should we be fouled. At least there are no Greek forwards on the pitch.

He will be assisted tonight by Paul Barnes (Cambridgeshire) and Guy Barnes (Somerset).
