There's no doubt Hall got it right that afternoon, and I think most of the football world (Dave Jones apart) agreed with that as the FAW astonishingly overturned the decision. It was his fourth red card in Burnley games but just one of them, Andy Cooke at Macclesfield, has been a Burnley player.
He's no stranger to cards, but incredibly in his last three Burnley games not a solitary Claret has seen one, although admittedly all of those games have been at home.
He went past the three figures for yellow cards last season and added no fewer than twelve red cards. This season so far there have been no red cards but seventeen yellow cards in five games.
That yellow card figure was boosted in his last game when he reached double figures as Oldham won 1-0 at Tranmere. The booking of six Tranmere players has lifted his total of home cards to nine with the other eight going to away team players. Two former Clarets have already been carded by him this season, Micah Hyde and Ian Moore.
Now he's warmed up I think there's a good chance of some cards tomorrow, but at least witht his referee we know that no matter how much it rains he won't call the game off.
e will be assisted by Andy Horton (West Midlands) and Malcolm West (Cornwall) with fourth official duties in the hands of Andy Williams (Herefordshire).
