It's Fletcher again

Last updated : 16 March 2006 By Tony Scholes

He was in charge when we went to Scunthorpe for the 2nd round of the Carling Cup and he waved his yellow card on five occasions that evening, three to Burnley players Gareth Farrelly, David May and Paul Weller.

But that should come as no surprise because in 19 matches this season he has already handed out a staggering 89 yellow cards and 5 red. And he certainly targets the away players with 33 of those yellows only going to home team players with the other 56 plus all of the red cards being handed out to away team players.

Handing out cards is nothing new to Fletcher though and last season he totalled a frightening 165 yellow in just 39 games. Incredibly in just over six years he has handed out a total of 876 yellow and 40 red cards.

His assistants will need to keep their pencils sharpened for some extra work tomorrow and they will be Richard Hewitt from North Yorkshire and Andy Hogg from South Yorkshire.
