It's Dowd again

Last updated : 23 February 2005 By Tony Scholes

There have been no complaints so far this season, that match three weeks ago was the 2-0 FA Cup win against Bournemouth and that follows on from the 2-1 win against Leeds at Elland Road when he was also in charge.

Since the Bournemouth tie he has refereed two other games and has added another twelve yellow cards to the 57 previously – it is now 31 to home team players and 38 to away team players.

That total is now 69 in 25 games with still just the three red cards to add to that, the last of those red cards coming on New Year’s Day when he dismissed Norwich's Marc Edworthy in their 1-1 draw at Portsmouth.

In previous Burnley games he has sent off Brian Reid (against Lincoln in our last match of 1998) and just about two years ago Fulham's Sean Davis in the cup replay win.

He’s likely to turn in a considerably better performance than either of the last three referees we have had on the road, all of whom have had dreadful games.

He will be assisted tonight by Paul Barnes (Cambridgeshire) and John Holbrook (Worcestershire).
