It's Crewe for the Clarets

Last updated : 23 June 2005 By Tony Scholes

Crewe - where the Clarets start the season
Our first match the following season was also away at Sheffield Wednesday but was put back to the Thora Hird Songs of Praise slot on the following day for live coverage on the ill fated ITV Sport Channel.

Since then we have started at home but this year we are off to Crewe to take on Dario G’s boys at the Alexandra Stadium before playing two home games in the following week.

With Crewe in August it means a change on Boxing Day and what a change, we are at home again for only the second time in eight years – we play Stoke in what will be a big game for a number of our players.

Our first home game is, as it was last season, against Sheffield United whilst again our last away trip of the season will see us go to Millwall. At least this is not the end of the season, that comes a week late on the last day of April when Luton visit the Turf and the last time they were visitors to the Turf for the last home game we won this particular league back in 1973.

Apart from Stoke the Christmas period is not a good one as far as travelling is concerned and we have to make journeys to both Norwich and QPR, a ridiculous state of affairs, but we do have Easter back this year when we travel to Hull on the Saturday before entertaining Crystal Palace on Easter Monday.
