It's Barry from the Premiership

Last updated : 25 December 2004 By Tony Scholes

The ex-Claret is Andy Payton and it was Barry who sent him off in the home game against Bristol Rovers during the promotion season, a decision that pushed us into signing Ian Wright.

His last visit to the Turf was exactly a year ago when we played Manchester United in the 4th round of the Worthington Cup.

This season he is up at almost four yellow cards per game with his current total 46 from 12 games. A total of 19 home players and 27 away players have picked up those cards and there have also been three red cards and the only home player to be sent off is Lucas Neill (Blackburn) for THAT challenge on Jamie Carragher.

The other two to be sent off are Martin McIntosh in Rotherham’s 2-0 defeat at Norwich and Derby’s Candido Costa in a 4-1 defeat at Cardiff.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by Mike Cairns (Northants) and James Tattan (Merseyside).
