Italy – we are still going

There have been suggestions that the trip could be off or that there might be no games played there should the team still go – but that is not the truth at all and the club's plans to spend a week of their pre-season in Italy have not changed even though the proposed game against Chievo Verona could be lost if they were to find themselves playing in Champions League qualifying games.

No matter what, the Clarets will be out in Italy during the last week in July and any current problems are nothing more than a set back. Manager Steve Cotterill said: “We've not been able to nail down games in Italy as yet. It has ended up putting us back a little bit.

“We are still going over there and hope to have two fixtures, and at the moment it is just a matter of putting in phone calls every day. We are doing our level best to get it all sorted.”

More significantly Steve added: “We are not travelling all the way for nothing. We know what days we will be training, that is all sorted. It is just that the games cannot be confirmed yet.
