It really was a good day for Mears who had an outstanding game at right back, particularly going forward in the second half, and capped it all with our equaliser eight minutes from time when he curled a free kick in by goalkeeper Frank Fielding's right hand post.

He picked up his first man of the match award on Clarets Mad since January and won it with 37.3% of the vote. That was almost ten percent ahead of Jack Cork, the winning goal scorer, who came second with 27.6%. Fast establishing himself in the left back position, Brian Easton took third place with a 16.5% share of the vote.

It was all the same in the player ratings with the same three players taking the top three positions in the same order. Mears, again top, had a rating of 8.23 out of 10. There wasn't much between Cork and Easton but it was Cork in second place with a rating of 7.67 whilst Easton's rating of 7.62 out of 10 gave him third place.

Mears wins the maximum six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with Cork getting four points and Easton two.

For Mears that means a climb into fifth place in the table and Cork's points now extend his lead at the top to six points.
