It was a fantastic day when we won there in April

Craig Shakespeare was the man facing the media for Hull and he made it clear that their first objective is a fourth successive clean sheet. "We know Burnley have some quality players and so we know, once again, we have to be resilient and hard to beat," he said.

"We do also have to make sure that, when we get the chance to play, we do because it is a lovely surface at Turf Moor. We have to go there with the right frame of mind again.

"It's two teams that have come down from the Premier League and it will be interesting to see where we're both at. But we're more interested in putting in another performance and building on the three points we've got away from home."

Brian Laws has been reflected on the number of times the woodwork has intervened recently since Andre Bikey hit the post in the first half at Middlesbrough. "These are the defining moments in football; the width of a post or crossbar," he said.

"We've done that six times now in the last three games and all we can do is ask the players to keep believing. If we keep hitting the target eventually we will get our just rewards.

" It just shows that we are dominating games and there's a lot of positives in and around the pace about the way we are playing. It's only a matter of time before we start hitting the net on a regular basis."

He continued: "It's fantastic too to see the team keeping successive clean sheets. It always gives you confidence that if you can get one goal up you have a good chance of winning a game. Confidence spreads and it gives people freedom to move forwards and it actually mirrors our performances over the past three games.

"From an attacking point of view we have been very good and unfortunate not to max out on our points."

Looking forward to tonight's game against Hull, he said: "We always stress that home form is going to be key. Nobody is going to win every game, we know that. But Hull are another team who dropped out of the Premier League and they will prove a stern test.

"It was a fantastic day when we won there in April and it was a long time coming. When it came it was fully deserved but you can't rely on history.

"Hull have had a difficult time themselves away from home and they picked up a first win in something like thirty away games at Norwich, which is not an easy place to go. So they will be buoyant and we have to be mindful of the fact they will have seen how Bristol City played against us on Saturday.

"The one thing we hope is we have a strong referee who doesn't allow the slow play that we saw on Saturday, but we will go out there to try and win the game, just as we do every game."
