Ashley Hoskin - here playing for the Clarets in the Sherpa Van Northern Final victory against Preston
Ash took over as manager of Rossendale United during the close season and has been given a total of eight league games before losing his job. The finances at Dark Lane have meant that he has had to play too many youngsters so far this season.

However, there was good news for the former Claret a week ago when he was given the all clear to boost the wage bill and bring in some new players, he was told by the Chairman and Directors that they were happy with his work and would help him in putting a stronger squad together.

New players were coming in ready for this weekend’s game against Spalding United but then on Thursday came the shock news that they had decided a change was in order and Hoskin was sacked.

The club have tried to suggest that he resigned but that’s not the case and Chairman Declan Callan has also parted company with the club’s long serving assistant manager Hughie Bridge with club captain Phil Lockett immediately stepping in as the new manager.

Callan said “ We are sorry that we have come to this situation after such a short space of time. But although we have played some excellent football this season, points have eluded us and this cannot be allowed to continue. There is no doubting Ashley’s coaching ability and we are all disappointed that things haven’t worked out as we hoped”.
