It all starts again in the Isle of Man

Ian Moore - one of only six available from those who played in our last match
Everyone had just about had enough of it and never was the close season more looked forward to. Now though it is just about at an end with the new league season only three weeks away and tomorrow the Clarets will be in action publicly for the first time when they take on Blackpool in the Isle of Man Football Festival.

A settled team they say brings about better results but whatever team Stan turns out tomorrow it will look a lot different than the side that lost that game at Franchise. Three of those that started that day, along with all five substitutes have now left the club whilst Mark McGregor, who played the full ninety minutes, is out through injury.

With Robbie Blake doubtful that leaves just Dean West, Tony Grant, Matt O’Neill, Ian Moore, Graham Branch and Gareth Taylor in the squad for tomorrow who played in that game last May.

We have no idea what line up Stan will decide on when we take to the field against Blackpool, who themselves will have a familiar figure in Steve Davis, but it will surely include some of the trialists and we are also certain to field as many substitutes as we are allowed.

Stan is nowhere near having his squad together yet with anything up to another six players still required but we are getting closer to that first league match against Palace. We need to be ready, we cannot afford another start like last season and we cannot afford to start the way we ended last season.

Tomorrow’s line up, whilst not giving us any real clues for the Palace game, will be eagerly awaited.
