Is Varga on his way to Burnley?

The 35-year-old Varga, a Slovakian international, is in his second spell at the Stadium of Light after rejoining the club from Celtic ion the last day of August 2006 on a two year deal. He was first signed by them in the summer of 2000 by Peter Reid for a fee just under £1 million.

He became an instant hero with a sensational performance against Arsenal on the opening day of the season. However, just a few days later he had a disappointing night at Maine Road as they crashed 4-2 to Manchester City.

However, he never really established himself in the first team on Wearside and spent a month on loan at West Brom during the 2001/02 season and in February 2003 he was signed by Celtic with his contract coming to an end having started just eighteen league games.

He was certainly more involved with the first team at Celtic and three and a half years made no fewer than eighty league appearances for them. During his last full season in Scotland he played alongside Roy Keane and became one of his first signings when he became manager at RK Sunderland.

When they drew 2-2 at Burnley last season Varga partnered Steven Caldwell at the back but as Caldwell left so Varga lost his place and he's made only one league appearance since New Year's Day 2006, that last appearance coming at the beginning of February last year.

As yet there's been no confirmation from either club although local radio does seem to believe the deal is set to go ahead. Could he be set to make a debut for Burnley against the same club he played against for Sunderland?
