Is anyone setting off early for Leicester and can offer a lift?

The two lads have put their names forward to play in a football match in Leicester as part of the ‘Kick Racism out of Football’ campaign but need to be there in time for the 10:30 a.m. kick off and have no transport.

Clarets Mad received an email from a team of Leicester fans recently to try and put a team together and we are indebted to Peter Bateman from the West Midlands Clarets who has succeeded in getting enough willing volunteers to take part. The team will play under the name of Ternent’s Extra.

Most of those taking part are from the West Midlands but these two lads are from Burnley and are keen to represent us. If you can help can you please email Peter Bateman or Clarets Mad and we will put the lads in touch with you.

The opposition are called Electric Yetis (anagram of Leicester City) and play a number of games and they have released the following:

Supporters of Leicester City and Burnley football clubs will be united later this month as they give their backing to a national campaign which aims to rid soccer of racism.

The fans will be taking part in a friendly football match on the 19th of October, prior to the Foxes' First Division clash with the Clarets at the Walkers Stadium, as part of Kick It Out's national anti-racism campaign which runs from 16 - 26 October.

The match has been organised by the Electric Yetis, a charity football team consisting entirely of Leicester City supporters, in conjunction with the Foxes Against Racism group, and will take place at Belvoir Drive, off Aylestone Road, at 10.30am. A team of Burnley supporters (christened Ternent's Extra) who are travelling down to Leicester for the afternoon League
match, will provide the Yetis' opposition.

The Electric Yetis will forego the chance to wear their usual Leicester City kit for the day and will instead don Foxes Against Racism t-shirts to help get the message across. After the game players from both teams will enjoy a lunch - provided by Foxes Against Racism - at the Aylestone Leisure Centre.

The group will also be donating a small trophy for the match's winners.

A spokeswoman for the Electric Yetis said of the game:

"The Yetis' aim has always been to provide a friendly, informal environment for people who just want to play football, and anyone who wishes to turn out for us can do so, regardless of race, gender, ability or age.

"Our 'football for all' ethos encompasses everything Kick It Out is striving to achieve. With Burnley's help, we're very much looking forward to proving that rival football fans can get on and work together harmoniously irrespective of who they support".

This view has been echoed by Yetis' player-Chairman, Paul Coulson, who earlier said:

"When it comes to football, the only colour that should matter is that of the teams' shirts. Racism has absolutely no part in football, and the Electric Yetis are delighted to be able to reinforce that message.

"Sport can and must transcend all racial barriers, and fans – either individually or collectively - must take every opportunity to follow the initiatives of groups like Foxes against Racism."

Admission to the Electric Yetis v Ternent's Extra clash is free and all supporters are welcome.
