Is a penalty around the corner?
He is a referee who tends to let the game flow but in the past has been very much a referee who has favoured the home team, and we saw that to our cost at Coventry last season when he turned in a woeful display.
There has been something of a change in Ilderton this season where yellow cards are concerned, previously he's been far more likely to card away players but this season in 25 games he has handed out 84 yellow cards with 43 going to home players and 41 to away players.
It's a slightly different story with red cards with six of the eight he's given going to away team players. Three times he's sent off two players in a game. He dismissed both David Nugent and Glenn Loovens in Preston's early season 2-1 win against Cardiff, Rotherham's Martin Woods and Ian Sharps both went in a 3-1 Football Trophy defeat at Hartlepool, and in his very last game he sent off Huddersfield's Andy Holdsworth and Rotherham's Ian Henderson as Huddersfield won 3-2 at Millmoor.
Only one referee, Andy Woolmer, has awarded Burnley a penalty since Eddie Ilderton last did, now can this referee make it four out of four?
He will be assisted by Gary Hilton (Lancashire) and Richard Wigglesworth (Yorkshire) with fourth official duties carried out by Mo Matadar (Lancashire).
