Injury crisis deepens

Tonight is vitally important for the Clarets and it now looks certain that one of the team’s most influential players Tony Grant will be out of the side after having had to come off with twenty minutes remaining at Cardiff.

Ian Moore failed to make it at Ninian Park although no injury had previously been reported. It is an injury and it will almost certainly rule him out too tonight.

Much will depend on Paul Weller and Neil Wood but both remain doubtful and frankly we do not want a repeat of the farce of the last home game when both played and had to be substituted within the first twenty minutes.

If none of them make it then Stan will surely turn to experience ahead of youth and that would mean a first start in Burnley colours for Lenny Johnrose since the 2-2 home draw with Millwall in September 2002.

Up front it will probably be Graham Branch up front again considering the farcical situation with Dele Adebola. Last Monday he didn’t want to come on too early and last Saturday did nothing other than warm up on the touchline as we never seriously came close to scoring a goal. He is hardly likely to start but will probably be sat on the bench.

If none of the injured players make it, and that is the current suggestion, then we can expect to line up:

Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, David May, Mark McGregor, Mo Camara, Luke Chadwick, Richard Chaplow, Lenny Johnrose, Glen Little, Robbie Blake, Graham Branch. Subs: Nathan Abbey, Ryan Townsend, Joel Pilkington, Alan Moore, Dele Adebola.

Our look at the opposition will resume for the next fixture when we play Derby County, a real football club and fellow founder members of The Football League.
