Other than that he hasn't really caused us any problems although 17 of the 25 yellow cards in Burnley games have gone our way. Having said that, he's given us a penalty on four of the five occasions he's refereed us at Turf Moor.
He's a referee who isn't over zealous when it comes to cards. In eight games so far this season he's handed out twenty yellow cards and two red cards with both reds coming in his last game, last week's game between Bury and Accrington at Gigg Lane which the home side won 3-0.
Of those twenty yellow cards, nine have gone to home team players and eleven to away team players. Two of those came in last week's game for Bury's Efe Sodje and Terry Gornell of Accrington whilst the two red cards both went Accrington's way, for Andy Proctor and Jonathan Bateson. It was the first of those that so incensed Accrington boss John Coleman and he was ordered to the stand.
Eddie Ilderton was the first referee to come under the scrutiny of the Clarets Mad Rate The Ref feature when he refereed our opening game of the 2007/08 season against West Brom. He's currently in 24th place.
The assistant referees are Ross Joyce (Cleveland) and David Plowright (Nottinghamshire). The fourth official is Ian Dudley (Nottinghamshire).
