Hyde scores as Reggae Boyz win

They are currently playing in a stage 2 group in the North, Central American and Caribbean Zone and anything but a win last night would have been a disaster.

His goal came after 39 minutes and gave the Jamaicans a 3-0 lead after Nottingham Forest's Marlon King had scored twice. There were no further goals and the result takes them to second in the four team group at the half way stage, just one point behind the Americans.

In scoring Micah became the first Claret to score an international goal since Phil 'Tippy' Gray came on as a substitute for Northern Ireland against Malta in Belfast just over four years ago. He scored the only goal of the game in a World Cup Qualifier.

It is an incredible 21 years since a Burnley player last started a full international and scored and that too was for Northern Ireland. On that occasion it was Billy Hamilton who netted in a 3-1 win against Austria in a qualifier for the European Championships. That too was played at Windsor Park in Belfast.

Micah Hyde will now return but sit out the next three games following his sending off against Gillingham, he'll be available again for the Carling Cup tie against Wolves a week next Tuesday.

He'll be off again next month when the Jamaicans play the reverse of this week's fixtures - in Panama City and then back in Kingston against El Salvador. They will be played on 9th and 13th October leaving just the return against the Americans which will be played on 17th November in Columbus, Ohio.
