Hyde off the list

There was no big surprise when Steve Cotterill revealed that Duane Courtney, Danny Karbassiyoon and Gifton Noel-Williams were being made available for transfer, but the news that Micah was joining them came as something of a surprise to a lot of Burnley fans.

As pre-season training was about to start there was some speculation that there might be a reverse of the decision regarding the former Watford midfielder and that has looked to be the case with him very much involved during the build up games. He was also the only one of the four to make the squad for Saturday and he got on for the last half hour after we made a double substitution.

Today's news is a boost for the squad, and manager Steve Cotterill said: “I spoke to Micah on Sunday and told him I was taking him off the transfer list and he looked happy. I'm delighted that he's in our squad and look forward to seeing him involved this season.

“I don't want to elaborate on that anymore because then people will speculate on something that isn't there. I wouldn't have signed him if I thought he had nothing to contribute, so I am now looking forward to seeing him contribute again. I think he'll be better for being on the list and then coming off it.

Just because I've taken Micah off the list doesn't guarantee him a place because we do have competition, which is what we want.”
