Hunt starts for Watson's replacement

Terry Robinson - believed to be favourite to replace Andrew Watson
I have to admit to being somewhat surprised, but delighted, to hear that mine was the first name in the frame. Without wishing to blow my own trumpet it is a role I would love to have and Barry, I am available for an immediate start.

How disappointing then to hear that it is more likely that the Tony Scholes mentioned is in fact The Imposter and former Chief Executive of Preston North End. He left Preston some time ago but has still been involving himself with football.

Either Scholes would be a good choice but there are other candidates and in fact they could, as in the past, continue without anyone in such a role. Then former Chairman Frank Teasdale did the job free of charge, we are led to believe that Frank is unlikely to return.

One other name being strongly mentioned and a name that will certainly please Stan is that of his former Chairman at Bury, Terry Robinson. He was the top man at Bury for what seemed years and eventually combined the roles of Chairman and Chief Executive before leaving when a take over, one that never materialised, was imminent.

At that time he was linked with a position at the Turf although it did seem then that it would be difficult to find a role for him and he eventually moved to Sheffield United where now he against has duel roles, those of Vice Chairman and Chief Executive.

He currently works closely with one former Bury manager in Neil Warnock, a manager Robinson always speaks very highly of, but might just relish working again alongside Warnock’s Gigg Lane predecessor Stan Ternent.

The Watson news was not a sudden shock to Burnley Football Club, apparently they have been away of hit for some two months, and so could well have already made moves to attract or replacement.

For now though the options look simple. The work could be carried out by the board or they could bring in any of Robinson, Scholes, Scholes and Teasdale. Just now though I wouldn't look too much further than the man pictured.
