Hoskin making draw

Ash Hoskin
It's over 25 years since Hoskin made his Turf Moor debut as a youngster in our first ever season in the Fourth Division and we were certainly thankful for some of his goals in the following season as we just escaped the drop into non-league football.

He scored in 2-1 wins against Colchester and Northampton and the only goal in the 1-0 win at Stockport and scored a brilliant goal in the 2-2 draw at Swansea.

Hoskin was never able to establish himself in the first team after that season and moved into non-league football. He never left the game at the end of his playing career and has worked now for some years within our own centre of excellence.

Besides coaching one of the junior teams he returned in a full time capacity at the end of 2008 as the skills coach, working in particular with the younger aged players in the centre. He continued that role until last summer when he stepped into the position of development coach which includes being in charge of the reserve team.

That team is currently well clear at the top of the league and in the first half of the season they've played some terrific football.

Today, though, he's out there in his own right as he makes the half time draw. Scunthorpe are appropriate opposition. Back in November 1985 he scored our goal against them at the Old Show Ground in a 1-1 draw, it was his first goal for the Clarets.
