Hooper and Sharp linked

Brian Laws - linked with Billy Sharp and Gary Hooper
Sharp is the only one of the two who played for Scunthorpe under Laws. The new Burnley boss signed him from Sheffield United in 2005 for a small fee and he proved to be a massive success at Glanford Park scoring 53 goals in 80 league starts.

Such was his form that new Blades' boss Bryan Robson jumped in and took him back to Bramall Lane in a big seven figure transfer in July 2007 but he's failed to continue that sort of form with the Blades.

This season he's been out on loan at Doncaster and has scored ten Championship goals in seventeen appearances including a run in November and December of scoring in six successive games. He would definitely have been a target had Sean O'Driscoll got the job at Burnley.

Hooper joined Scunthorpe from Southend in the summer of 2008 having had an excellent loan spell with Hereford in the previous season. He was signed by current boss Nigel Adkins and has proved to be a prolific scorer, scoring no fewer than 39 goals for them in 78 games, a ratio of one goal every two appearances.

It's the transfer window, we have a new manager who has said he wants to dip into the market this month, so there is going to be speculation about players joining us. Matthew Kilgallon apart they have all played for one of Laws' last two clubs.

A few weeks ago, given the source of these links, we would definitely have believed them.
