Hill has the whistle
We lost the game 1-0 to a farcical decision that was hardly a foul and even so was some distance outside the box. That was the first time we'd ever seen Hertfordshire referee Keith Hill and he was blasted by the two managers Ian Holloway and Stan Ternent after the game, with Ternent screaming it wasn't fit to referee at Football League level.
That was Keith Hill's first Burnley game in what was his second season on the Football League list. Ternent's anger must have had an impact and we didn't see him again for over three years, the next time was our first ever visit to Leicester's Crisp Bowl when he again handed out six yellow cards.
His last Burnley game was the home win against Cardiff two seasons ago, on that occasion Graham Branch and Richard Duffy were the two Burnley players yellow carded, along with Cardiff's Jobi McAnuff.
He's still quite busy with his cards, and in 14 games so far this season he's already handed out 52 yellow and a couple of reds. If we think we need to be concerned, then a quick look at his stats show that. Just 20 of those yellow cards have gone the way of home players, the other 32 to away players, whilst both players sent off have been away players.
Bournemouth's Marcus Browning got a straight red right on half time at Brighton, they led 1-0 at the time and the game ended 2-2. The other player to go was Huddersfield's Danny Adams in a 1-0 win at Bradford.
He will be assisted at Portman Road by Richard Beevor (Suffolk) and David Bushell (London) whilst fourth official duties will be carried out by Gary Evetts (Hertfordshire).
