Hilda had been widowed for over 24 years following the death of her husband in December 1981 and for much of that time was in very good health.

She was at Turf Moor for the last game of 1999 and even more recently was at the club when they launched the ‘Rhapsody in Claret & Blue' and ‘When we were Kings' videos.

She was a delightful lady to speak to and was always a keen Burnley supporter even when she was no longer able to get to the games. She suffered some ill health for a short time before she died. Her funeral will take place this coming Thursday at Read.

Our thoughts are very much with her daughters Barbara and Margaret and the rest of the family at this very sad time for them.
