It is some time since Mathieson refereed a Burnley match, it was the 1-0 home win against Franchise over two years ago when a Glen Little goal won it for the Clarets. Prior to that it was that magnificent night at 
Interestingly he had always been thought of as an unlucky omen before these games and a look at the list shows he was referee when we conceded four first half goals at Bury on Boxing Day 1999 and a season later was in charge as a Robbie Blake inspired Forest beat us 5-0.
This season to date he has refereed a total of ten games with twenty- three yellow cards and two red cards, the most recent of which was the dismissal of Preston’s Claude Davis in their Carling Cup win at Leicester.
