It's no surprise that Heaton featured highly in both the man of the match vote and the player ratings, winning them both comfortably.
He won just under half of the man of the match vote, polling 49.5%. That was ahead of George Boyd with 11.6%, goalscorer Barnes with 8.8% and Barnes' fellow striker Danny Ings with 7.5% who took the next three places.
Credit for the clean sheet, our fifth of the season, came into play in the ratings with both central defenders making the top four.
Heaton was again the winner with a rating of 8.42 but the next two places went to the defenders. Jason Shackell was second with a rating of 8.06 just ahead of Michael Keane who got his first top four finish with a rating of 7.94. Barnes was fourth and his rating was 7.64 out of 10.
That result means Heaton has won the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with all of Barnes, Boyd and Shackell collecting three points. Keane has picked up two points with Ings getting one point.
This has brought about a significant change in the player of the year table. It has been led all season by Scott Arfield but the points won by Shackell have now taken him level with the midfielder, both on 53 points.
Ings is now seven points behind the pair of them with Lukas Jutkiewicz, in fourth place, a further 15 points behind. Meanwhile Heaton's points have taken him into sixth place, just a point behind Michael Duff.
The Spurs man of the match vote will be underway as soon as possible on Saturday and the result for the Southampton game, along with the current Clarets Mad Player of the Year Table, can be found below.
