After leaving Burnley to join Everton as number two to Howard Kendall, he's had just one managerial role in his own right and that was with Sheffield United. He wasn't there long and left them in something of a mess before being replaced by Neil Warnock.

Since then he's worked wherever Peter Reid has taken him and that's how he landed at Coventry, taking over as caretaker boss both when Reid left and then again following the sacking of Micky Adams. The Sky Blues finally dispensed with his services just prior to appointing Iain Dowie.

He's now become the manager of newly formed American USL club Austin Aztex who just last month signed an agreement with Championship club Stoke City, Heath's first club with the Texas based club in effect a Stoke City franchise. Heath's appointment today was revealed in a press conference at the Britannia Stadium.

It has been described as an official affiliation by Stoke Chief Exec Tony Scholes with the Potteries club now having played a major part in selecting the club's first manager. They will join the USL in 2009.
