Has Gazza gone?

That looks a strange one with the Tractor Boys looking favourites for relegation and already admitting that players would have to be sold. There would be no climb in status for Glen either in fact he could find himself dropping back out of the Premiership if we swap places with them.

That's nothing compared to the speculation surrounding another Burnley player. According to some of this morning's press Paul Gascoigne and Burnley could well have parted company. It is nothing other than speculation and has come from the fact that Gazza was overheard telling other players, "All the best with promotion, lads, I won't see you again."

There has been no official comment from the Turf or from Gazza himself but one report suggests he could have been serious or just at a low point because he hadn't been selected. When he joined the Clarets all the best wishes from his ex-colleagues and bosses at Everton were all attached to messages saying that he needed to be playing regularly. He certainly looked happy enough during the game on Saturday.

It is reported that he was back on Merseyside last night considering his future but his advisor Ian Elliott said he had not heard from him.

This is all in contrast to his recent comments that he is enjoying himself and he is happy playing for a manager he describes as a ‘football nut' and that makes this morning's speculation all the more difficult to believe. It is probably the press, as always, just wanting a Gazza story.

This could be nothing other than gossip mongering and unless there is some official news from Turf Moor this morning it can be assumed it is just that. Gazza has though failed to make any sort of impact on the field since arriving and is unlikely to win a place back in the starting line up at Grimsby.
