Adam, known to his friends as Harold, posted on the Clarets Mad message board under the name of Haroldinho. At the age of just 23 he died during the night only a few hours after I'd spoken to him at Ewood Park yesterday.

Adam was a vital member of the Accrington Clarets Supporters Club and often stewarded coaches to the away games along with his mate Ryan and their travel organiser Peter Baron said on hearing the news: "It's terrible news. On behalf of myself and Accy Clarets I'd like to express sincere condolences to his family.

"Adam travelled to every away game with us and was always lively and fun to be with. Whenever we ran more than one coach to an away game I could always rely on him and Ryan taking charge of a coach and I always received complimentary comments from people who travelled on their coach. He never had a bad word for anyone and loved the Clarets to bits. He will be sadly missed, especially by his mate Ryan."

He was a lively character and one of my memories of him will be his support for the team at Selhurst Park on the final day of the 2007/08 season. In front of a passionate home crowd we were 5-0 down yet there he was, on his feet, urging the Burnley fans to join him with the singing and supporting the team right to the end.

That's how he was, so full of enthusiasm for his team.

The news this morning really puts everything into perspective, such a sad loss at such a young age. My thoughts, and I'm sure those of everyone else involved in any way with Clarets Mad, are with his family and friends at this terrible time for them.
