Harley signs for Watford

Jon Harley
Harley was offered a new contract by the Clarets just a few days after the end of last season but three days later the offer was withdrawn and that left him a free agent. He's been training with Watford and has impressed manager Adrian Boothroyd during a pre-season trip to Austria and that has led to this deal.

He'll replace Jordan Stewart in the Watford squad and coincidentally it was because we missed out on Stewart three years ago, when he moved from Leicester to Watford, that prompted us to sign Harley from Sheffield United.

Watford were one of just two clubs in the division not to have made a signing and the capture of Harley leaves Reading as the only player with no new recruits.
