Harley set for Notts

Jon Harley
Harley, who signed for Burnley from Sheffield United in August 2005, has just spent two years with the Hornets in the Championship after he had his contract offer withdrawn by Burnley in May 2008.

However, because of finances at Watford and also because of his desire to relocate back to the North West, he's a free agent and could very well be snapped up by Notts County this week.

Notts County's new boss Craig Short, who had worked with Harley at Bramall Lane, is currently in Austria with his side, and said: "I first spoke to Jon a few weeks ago and we're still in talks with him at the moment.

"We're hoping to get him out here. We've even brought a bag of kit for him to wear. He would be another good signing for us because of his experience. He is a natural left-footer, capable of playing at full-back or on the left hand side of midfield.

"Watford want to keep him but can't afford to, so he's looking for a new club. I can't believe he hasn't already got one."

Although having left Vicarage Road, with the permission of manager Malky Mackay he is continuing to train with them until he finds a new club.
