Gunnarsson is latest link

Last updated : 18 January 2010 By Tony Scholes
He started his career in his homeland with Þór Akureyri before moving on to AZ Alkmaar and in June 2008 he was signed by Coventry boss Chris Coleman. He went straight into the Coventry side and has been there ever since and he played in both games against the Clarets last season.

Last season he managed to get himself no fewer than twelve yellow cards but things have calmed down on that score this season and he's found his way into the referee's notebook just twice.

He's not a goalscorer and has netted just twice for Coventry. The first of them will be recalled easily by Burnley fans, a volley from outside the box in a cup tie against Blackburn Rovers. His only league goal came in a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last April.

Gunnarsson is just one of a number of players being linked with us right now as new boss Laws looks to make use of the remaining two weeks of the transfer window. If Gunnarsson is a target, and if he does sign, he would not be eligible for this Saturday's FA Cup tie at Reading having already played in the 3rd round for Coventry against Portsmouth.
