Guerrero is here

It was no wild rumour and he, as expected, joined the squad in the United States where he played in both games. He officially played under the name of 'A Newman' but all media reports named him.

Owen Coyle admitted he liked what he saw, so did captain Steven Caldwell, but there were somewhat mixed messages coming out of the club once he returned to his club Independiente José Terán (who are sometimes referred to as Independiente del Valle).

Over the last few days the news came out that Guerrero would be coming to Burnley once he'd played his game for Independiente over the weekend. We'd been waiting for their club president to return to conclude the deal.

It was expected that he would arrive on Tuesday and that's exactly what he did. And once he'd been seen by some Burnley fans the club quickly revealed that he was here for talks although saying that there were still negotiations to be done with his club.

Given that he's already in Burnley I would suggest the deal is a lot closer to completion than is being said. Having allowed him to join us for a week in America I would be surprised if his club would let him fly from Ecuador for talks if the deal isn't just about wrapped up.

It is very likely that he will be a Burnley player very soon, I predicted recently that it could be during this week and I still would think that is the case. Will he be on the coach to Scotland today? Who knows, but I do think he'll be a Burnley player by the time we get home at the latest.
