Griffiths on board

Griffiths had to wait with there being no vacancy on the board but with Bob Blakeborough’s retirement towards the end of 2004 he has now been co-opted following the last board meeting.

Ray’s support of the Clarets goes back some, he’s been a fan for fifty years and in recent years has had a box in the Longside. If being a fan is criteria for a board seat, as some fans would suggest, then he qualifies comfortably.

A successful business man he is a former Chairman of Target Express Parcels and he is still very much involved with them as well has having involvements in a property company.

The Deerplay based Griffiths said, “I’d like to thank the Board members for voting me on and we all hope to keep the Club moving forward.

“I’ve had an executive box at Turf Moor for a number of years with my family and friends and now that I have retired and got a bit more time on my hands, I wanted to get more involved.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and we want to see the Club improve in the future and the team doing well.”

The appointment means the Turf Moor board is now back up to the maximum of nine and made up as follows:

Barry Kilby (Chairman), Ray Ingleby (Vice-Chairman), Clive Holt, John Turkington, Chris Duckworth, Martin Hobbs, Jon Wilkinson, John Sullivan, Ray Griffiths.
